Adjacent
to the library is the new state-of-the-art technology lab where students from
second grade onward spend time each week learning to use the computer.
Initially they are taught the components of the computer, basic Microsoft
Word utilities, safe internet searching, and how to produce PowerPoint
presentations incorporating text and images.
As small motor skills develop, home-row keyboarding techniques are
mastered and students learn to work with Excel spreadsheets, database
applications and graphics utilities. By middle school, students are well versed
in all major software applications and are introduced to programming principles
using Lego Mindstorms robots. By
eighth grade, they are equipped with all the skills needed to design, edit and
produce MPFS’ yearbook independently.
