Dea Friends,

I know that as we get into the colder weather and the typical cold and flu symptoms arise, there will be some confusion around when to get tested for COVID-19. The first thing I would like to do in this update is to provide you with that information...

Extended Day Program & COVID-19 Protocols

Our Extended Day program will follow the same protocols of social distancing, mask wearing and frequent hand washing that are set out in the policies of MPFS.

Where possible, Extended Day will take place outdoors. Children will be split into two pods - Preschool and Kindergarten in one pod, and then the rest of the school will be in another pod...

Head of School Update #13

I hope this message finds you well and looking forward to Friday and Monday, when we officially welcome our students back to campus. As Angela shared last week, we will be welcoming our preschool - grade 3 students on Friday, and grades 4 - 8 on Monday...

Vote Like Your Children Live Here

8th grade student Jeremy wrote an op-ed stressing the importance of voting in the upcoming presidential election and the implications it could have on how we navigate climate change.

Head of School Update #12: Distance Learning Schedules, School Supply Pickup

I write my latest update with mixed emotions. I was excited for everyone to finally return to campus after being apart since March, and I am extremely disappointed, as I’m sure most of you are, that we can’t do that. I feel particularly bad for the kids as we delay our on-campus start until Oct 12.

Head of School Update #11: MPFS Returns to Distance Learning

After much deliberation, including weighing the opinion of local infectious disease specialists who have presented to school districts in the area, our board has met and has decided that our most appropriate course of action is to follow the recommendation of the CCDoH until Oct 9.

Head of School Update #10: COVID-19 and the 2020-2021 School Year

I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the fear, anxiety, and uncertainty that all of us (families, teachers, staff) are feeling right now as we approach a school year unlike any other we have ever experienced. None of us at MPFS are infectious disease specialists, none of us are health and safety experts... What we will promise is that we will do our very best on all fronts to deliver the safest, most comprehensive education possible under the circumstances.

Head of School Update #9: COVID-19 and the 2020-2021 School Year

As I have alluded to before (and as I’m sure you’ve heard/read/seen throughout the last few months) schools will look different when reopening campuses this fall. It’s hard to know where PA/Delaware County will be regarding COVID-19 in a week, much less 6 weeks. Having said that, we plan to open our campus in September, and we have plans in place for how things will look and operate as we open.

At Home Aquaponics

This year students were able to learn about aquaponics and how to grow plants using the ecosystem they've created inside fish tanks. While he was at home distance learning, MPFS student Gage created his own aquaponics system inspired by what he learned in class with T. Daryl. Click here to find out what he has to say about this project. Nice job Gage!
