Summer Friends COVID-19 Update
Our county remains in the red phase of Gov. Wolf’s reopening plan in which the stay-at-home order remains in effect, and schools and most child care facilities must remain closed. Consequently, we have made the difficult decision of canceling the first four weeks of camp and moving with hopeful hearts to Plan B, in which Summer Friends will try to open one month later, on July 13th.
We will notify families on or before June 26th about whether or not Summer Friends can provide camp activities for the remaining five weeks of our summer season.
Meanwhile, our dedicated staff remains committed to providing meaningful engagement with Summer Friends campers and their families. Please follow our facebook page - Summer Friends at MPFS - to connect with our creative counselors, see photos, and receive important updates. In the event that we are unable to reopen in July, the staff has been brainstorming ways to offer virtual content designed to bring the Summer Friends experience into your homes. We will be sending out a survey in June to gauge the interest of families in participating in these activities.
If you registered for any of the first four camp sessions you will receive a full refund. Please contact the school office business manager at firstname.lastname@example.org and allow several weeks for processing. As we look for ways to support our staff as they explore ways to offer online content, please consider converting all or a portion of your June registrations to Summer Friends for a tax-deductible donation.
We are still accepting refundable registrations for the remaining 5 weeks of camp, however, space is limited and will be honored on a first-registered, first-accepted basis.
Thank you for patience and understanding during this time. We look forward to reconnecting with all our Summer Friends families this summer. If you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
