A Conversation with Sydney Wood MPFS Class of 2026

As we count down to graduation, we're getting to know the incredible individuals who make up the Class of 2026. Each Tuesday and Thursday leading up to our graduation ceremony on June 9, we'll be posting one Q&A. Today, we're delighted to shine a spotlight on Sydney Wood.

Describe yourself in three words:
Energetic, creative, and funny.

When you’re not at school, what activities or hobbies do you enjoy?
I love to play soccer, walk around with my friends, and scroll on my phone.

Who is your favorite musical artist, band? What is your current favorite song?
My favorite artist is Tyler, the Creator and my favorite song is "Now or Never" by Kendrick Lamar.

What is your favorite television series or movie?
10 Things I Hate About You is my favorite movie and my favorite show is The Good Place.

What is your current favorite book?
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey is my favorite book.

What grade did you start at MPFS?
First Grade.

Who was your first teacher?
Teacher Emily.

What is your favorite MPFS memory, event, or tradition? And why?
My favorite memory is the middle school hayride in 2024!

What interests have been sparked during your time at MPFS?
Probably writing and listening to good music were some interesting topics that were sparked.

What do you think is the most important lesson you’ve learned at MPFS?
I think the most important thing here is the SPICES (Friends values) and how they teach me to be a good person no matter where you are and who’s watching.

What do you think you’ll miss the most about MPFS?
I’ll miss the strong connection of our class and how close we are.

If you attended the Costa Rica Trip, what do you think you'll remember the most about that trip?
The beach was my favorite time there because we had a lot of freedom and could just have fun with my closest friends.

Where are you going to high school?
I’m going to Penncrest High School.

Are you looking forward to trying any new activities, sports, or subjects in high school?
I’m going to be playing soccer in high school, and I might join some clubs or take different classes.

Do you have an idea of what you’d like to study in college or what you might want to be when you grow up?
Well, for money I would study finance, but for my passion, I would choose interior design or engineering.

What advice do you have for next year’s middle school students?
I think just to get good grades, but if that isn’t your thing, then just make the most of the time you have here and have fun. But no matter what happens, have mutual respect for everyone around you.

Anything you want your family, friends, or teachers to know about you or your MPFS experience?
Just know no matter what I say, I did always have a great time here and I valued every second of my time here.
