As our "Countdown to Graduation" series continues, we're excited to introduce another remarkable member of the Class of 2025: Ava Gibson! Read on to discover Ava's creative talents, cherished memories, and aspirations for the future.
Describe yourself in three words: Creative, Funny, Awesome.
When you’re not at school, what activities or hobbies do you enjoy?
I like to write poetry and play the ukulele.
Who is your favorite musical artist or band? What is your current favorite song?
SZA and Beyoncé. My favorite song is "Drew Barrymore" by SZA.
What is your favorite television series or movie?
My favorite shows are Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Amazing World of Gumball, and Daria. My favorite movies are the Avatar movies – the blue alien ones.
What is your current favorite book?
Matched by Ally Condie.
What grade did you start at MPFS and who was your first teacher?
Seventh Grade with T. Jen.
What is your favorite MPFS memory, event, or tradition? And why?
My all-time favorite is most definitely Bear Creek. To me it's just one big sleepover and there's a lot of bonding opportunities.
What interests have been sparked during your time at MPFS?
I discovered that I like doing theater and I'm much more musically inclined.
What do you think is the most important lesson you’ve learned at MPFS?
I've learned more ways to express myself in more artistic ways.
What do you think you’ll miss the most about MPFS?
I'll probably miss staying after school for rehearsal.
Where are you going to high school?
Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School
Are you looking forward to trying any new activities, sports, or subjects in high school? I'll be doing a lot of activities in high school. I'll be doing volleyball, student council, and probably debate club.
Do you have an idea of what you’d like to study in college or what you might want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a lawyer specializing in criminal law.
What advice do you have for next year’s middle school students?
Build a schedule for yourself since the homework load can get more difficult at times.
Anything you want your family, friends, or teachers to know about you or your MPFS experience?
I'm happy that I was able to meet all of these new people and make these connections.
