Inspiring Voices: MPFS Students Enjoy Two Phenomenal Author Visits!

We are thrilled to look back on a literary September! The Media-Providence Friends School campus was buzzing with excitement as we hosted two phenomenal author visits across different grade levels, leaving students inspired and ready to read.

🧘 Susan Verde: Mindfulness and Movement (K–2 Students)

We were thrilled to welcome acclaimed children's book author Susan Verde to MPFS on Monday, September 26, at 2:00 PM.

Known for her compassionate and insightful I Am series—including favorites like I am Peace, I am Me, and I am Human—Ms. Verde used her books to teach children about mindfulness, emotions, and self-acceptance. She shared her newest book, Body Beautiful, with our Kindergarten through Grade 2 students. This was a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to engage with themes of self-love and well-being.

🌍 Jennifer Swanson & Dylan Thuras: Exploring the World

Later that week, we hosted the adventurous co-authors, Jennifer Swanson and Dylan Thuras, on Friday, September 30th.

They shared their highly anticipated book, The Atlas Obscura Explorer's Guide to Inventing the World. Based on the popular Atlas Obscura franchise, this presentation took students on a journey through history and geography, successfully inspiring curiosity and a sense of wonder about the incredible things humans have created and discovered.

Thank you to the entire community for supporting these special events that reinforce our commitment to literacy, curiosity, and creativity!
