Introducing Our New Dragon Buddies! Connecting new families to the full MPFS journey

To the MPFS Community,

I am so excited to officially introduce the new Dragon Buddies program and the families who have graciously volunteered to lead this effort with me. The idea for this group was born from a conversation I had with T. Angela earlier this year, building on an idea that T. Cynthia had for the program name and concept. We realized we needed a fresh way to help our new families, especially those in preschool, connect with and see the long-term value of our wonderful school community.

And so, the Dragon Buddies were born!

I am incredibly grateful to be joined by a founding team of truly engaged and invested families: The Hamiltons, Amy Komarnicki, and Regan-Snowe. From our very first meeting, the energy was palpable—it was as if the group was relieved to be asked to help. We are committed to ensuring our community continues to thrive, and they bring a wealth of ideas and passion to the table.

Our mission is simple: to make sure every family and student feels seen, supported, and inspired to engage. The Dragon Buddies will be working on ways to build community through easy social events like tailgates and happy hours, as well as more complex fundraisers like a golf outing.

With our kids already deeply involved in MPFS life, we are perfectly positioned to help plan our annual Dining Under the Stars performance and the New Family Picnic, making sure these events are as welcoming as they can be.

At its heart, this effort embodies the “special sauce” of MPFS:

• Belonging across generations: We're building friendships and connections that extend beyond individual grade levels.

• Students as leaders: Our older students are personally inviting and modeling what it means to be an engaged member of the community.

• Parents as partners: These families are opening their arms and sharing their own MPFS journeys, reminding us all that we play a role in the life of the school.

• Shared joy: From cheering at a basketball game to co-hosting a picnic, we're focused on creating the warm, welcoming moments that make MPFS feel like home.

The Dragon Buddies are an incredible group of parents who believe in the power of our community. I am so looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together!

Sincerely,
