There is something special about a Summer Friends summer. It’s the sound of laughter on the playground, the creative energy in the classrooms, and the sense of belonging that stays with campers long after they leave. This year, that sense of community is stronger than ever because our leadership team isn't just coming to work—they’re coming home.

We are thrilled to introduce the directors and leads who will be guiding our campers (ages 3–10) this season.

Leadership Deeply Rooted in MPFS

At the helm this year are two Co-Directors who represent the very heart of the Summer Friends experience: Margot Sissell and Casper Hoffmann.

Both Margot and Casper are MPFS alumni who attended from Pre-K through 8th grade. Their journey with Summer Friends began as 3-year-old campers, and they have spent over a decade combined serving as counselors.

Margot Sissell (Co-Director) is a 2025 graduate of Juniata College. Her lifelong connection to the camp gives her a unique perspective on what makes a summer truly magical for our youngest learners. "I love this camp," Margot says, "and I can’t wait to make it a great summer for everyone!"

Casper Hoffmann (Co-Director) is finishing his Master’s degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania this May and will be a certified high school English teacher. Casper combines his academic expertise with a deep love for games and song, ensuring our camp community is as joyful as it is educational.

A Specialized Support Team

Rounding out our leadership are two dedicated professionals focused on the safety, operations, and emotional well-being of our campers:

Sylvie Hoffmann (Director of Social Emotional Support): Also an MPFS alum, Sylvie is currently at Smith College studying Psychology and Education. She brings a vital focus on neurodiversity-affirming advocacy and care. Sylvie will be working directly with families and counselors to create art-based self-regulation tools, ensuring every child feels safe and seen.

Ian Trotter (Operations Lead): A senior at Rowan University studying Health and Physical Education, Ian has been a staple at MPFS for four years. A local Media rugby player and sports enthusiast, Ian’s energy and organizational expertise keep our daily operations running smoothly.
